 SSI offers hosting and design solutions for data-driven environments based on Oracle 10g (Standard and Enterprise), Microsoft SQL Server 2000 (Standard and Enterprise), Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (Standard and Enterprise), MySQL 4.1, and MySQL 5.x.
SSI frequently works with Clients that have developed an "office grown" system using tools like Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access -- have outgrown the capabilities that these tools can provide -- and need Enterprise Level Database experts who can understand their unique business requirements, and translate these needs into a cost-effective & reliable database solution, and without losing the business intent or utility of the original application. We can take over an existing project, or design and build a new custom business application from scratch. 
 Data Integrity: Proper business data integrity insures that all your business data follow consistent and valid data formats -- so that your application functions and calculations are accurate and reliable, and Reports properly interpret and render your business data. Enforcing data integrity requires programming data validation rules into your system. MS Excel provides little to no means to establish or validate data integrity. MS Access provides very limited means to establish and insure data integrity.
Security: MS Excel and MS Access can only be protected by 2 things: a Password, and the operating system itself e.g. security attributes set by the network administrator at the network hard drive and directory levels. Neither Excel or Access provide secure mechanisms to establish, manage and validate Role-based application security and true End User authentication.
Performance: Poor application performance is most often due to poor database schema design (this is true for any database application, including MS Access, MS SQL Server, Oracle etc...). MS Access can only support a small number of Users before performance becomes an issue, and there are many other issues that can negatively impact MS Access application performance.
Reliablility: Does your application stay running like a work horse 24x7? Or, does it crash frequently causing lost productivity and lost/corrupt data? The "reliability" of an MS Access application is constrained primarily by the quality of application design (poor application design and development decisions), and forthermore by the limitations of the MS Access platform itself.
Compliance: HIPAA and Section 508 require very specfic attention to application design and development to insure regulatory and business compliance. MS Access is HIPAA non-compliant, due primarily to poor application and data security. You will need to custom-design a SQL Server based application to meet minimal HIPAA requirements.
 Based on our high-availability experience and expertise, we are prepared to migrate you to a variety of topologies, including multi-site redundancy (live/live or active/standby); load-balancing clustering; or active/active, active/standby, or active/passive failover solutions. The choice of solution dictates whether database server failure will result in automated failover, or require manual intervention.
Regardless of which topology is necessitated by your business requirements or dictated by your budgetary constraints, we can assist in assuring that unplanned events will have minimal business impact. For example, for customers with only a single database server, negating the possiblity of even the simplest high-availability solution, Logicworks can capture the database transaction logs on short intervals. When required, these logs would then be applied to the previous night's restored database backup, minimizing the potential loss of new data.
